Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Cosmos One for your use of Oli ("Oli" or "the App").

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Oli, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of the App

Oli is an Android live conversation interpreter. It helps users sign in with a Google Account, capture speech through the microphone, send speech audio to an online AI translation provider, receive translated text and translated speech audio, play translated audio through supported output devices, and keep local conversation history.

Oli is not an offline-only interpreter. Live translation currently uses Gemini Live Translate provided through Google Gemini API. In some builds, the App may connect directly to Gemini API using build-configured credentials. In production-style builds, the App may request a short-lived live translation session from Cosmos Apps or another Cosmos One service before connecting to the online translation provider.

Online translation, Google sign-in, Google Play subscriptions, and configured Cosmos One backend features require network access, Google Play services, and third-party service availability. If Google sign-in, the online translation provider, the live-session provider, Google Play services, billing, or your network connection are unavailable, the App may not work.

3. Eligibility and Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use Oli. If you are under the age of majority in your location, you may use Oli only with parent or guardian involvement where required by law.

You must not use Oli where doing so is prohibited by law or where the online AI translation provider is not available. You are responsible for making sure that your use of Oli is lawful in your location and appropriate for the conversation you are translating.

4. User Accounts and Security

Oli requires Google sign-in. You must provide accurate account information and must not use another person's account without permission.

You are responsible for keeping your Google Account and device secure. Oli does not receive or store your Google password. If you believe your account or device has been compromised, secure your Google Account, sign out of Oli, and contact us if you need help with Cosmos One backend records.

5. User Content and User Data

You retain ownership of the speech, text, translations, conversation history, settings, diagnostics, and other content you create or process through Oli.

You are responsible for the content you enter, speak, translate, save, export, copy, share, or send through the App. You must have the right to process that content and must not use Oli for unlawful, harmful, infringing, abusive, deceptive, or privacy-invasive purposes.

To provide online live interpretation, Oli sends microphone audio and related live-session data to an online AI translation provider. The provider may process audio, transcripts, translated text, translated audio, language settings, technical metadata, and safety or abuse-monitoring information according to its own terms and policies.

Oli may store Google account sign-in information, legal consent, conversation history, settings, diagnostics, and subscription state locally on your device. Content may also leave your device if you export, copy, screenshot, back up, email, share diagnostics, use another app, or otherwise send it to another service.

Where configured, Oli may send account, legal consent, live-session, entitlement, purchase, and usage metadata to Cosmos Apps or another Cosmos One backend as described in the Privacy Policy.

6. AI Features and Generated Output

Oli uses online AI services for live speech translation, translated text, and translated audio playback. AI and translation output may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, interrupted, mistranscribed, mistranslated, or unsuitable for a particular situation.

You must review important translations before relying on them. Oli is not a substitute for a qualified professional interpreter and is not legal, medical, financial, safety, immigration, emergency, or other professional advice.

Do not use Oli as the sole source for important decisions. Do not use Oli in emergencies or situations where an inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable translation could cause harm. You must not submit content that you are not authorised to process.

7. Subscriptions, Purchases, and Billing

Oli offers subscription products through Google Play Billing for access to online live interpretation features and usage limits.

Google Play handles payment processing, refunds, taxes, subscription renewal, cancellation, and payment disputes according to Google Play policies and terms. Cosmos One does not receive or store your full payment card details.

Oli receives purchase status, product details, and a purchase token so it can grant, restore, acknowledge, validate, sync, and revoke subscription entitlements where appropriate. If Google Play no longer reports a valid subscription, Oli may clear the local subscription flag and restrict subscribed access.

Subscriptions renew, expire, cancel, refund, or dispute according to Google Play policies and the subscription settings shown in Google Play. You can manage or cancel subscriptions through Google Play Subscriptions.

Oli does not include a one-time remove_ads purchase. Oli does not show third-party advertising in the current app.

8. Acceptable Use

You must not:

  • Use Oli for illegal, harmful, abusive, deceptive, discriminatory, exploitative, or privacy-invasive purposes.
  • Use Oli to harass, threaten, exploit, harm, impersonate, deceive, or unlawfully monitor another person.
  • Translate or process content that infringes another person's rights or violates a law, contract, or duty of confidentiality.
  • Use Oli to process highly sensitive, confidential, regulated, or third-party personal information unless you have the right to do so and accept the risks of online AI processing.
  • Attempt to bypass app limits, billing checks, subscription controls, safety filters, provider restrictions, or security measures.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, modify, or create derivative works from the App except where permitted by law.
  • Interfere with the App, Google Play Billing, online translation providers, live-session services, or third-party services.
  • Attempt unauthorised access to any system, account, model, API key, credential, token, endpoint, or service.
  • Use Oli or AI output to mislead others, make unsupported claims, or represent AI output as verified professional advice.

You must also comply with the applicable terms, policies, and prohibited-use rules of the online AI translation provider and other third-party services used by the App.

9. Licence Grant

Cosmos One grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Oli for personal use on Android devices you own or control, subject to these Terms.

You must not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, distribute, publicly host, exploit, or transfer the App except where permitted by law or by the applicable app store terms. You must not remove proprietary notices from the App.

10. Intellectual Property

Cosmos One owns the App, design, branding, code, documentation, and service materials except where otherwise stated. Third-party components, SDKs, models, APIs, libraries, and services remain owned by their respective owners and may be governed by separate licences or terms.

Your content remains yours. These Terms do not transfer ownership of your speech, transcripts, translations, conversation history, or diagnostics to Cosmos One.

11. Third-Party Services

Oli uses third-party services and components, including:

  • Google Gemini API / Gemini Live Translate: online live speech translation, translated text, translated audio, provider safety controls, provider logging, abuse monitoring, and service operation.
  • Google sign-in, Android Credential Manager, Firebase Authentication, and Google Play services: account authentication, account selection, app session management, and Google service integration.
  • Cosmos Apps or other Cosmos One live-session services where configured: account registration, legal consent registration, short-lived session creation, provider routing, entitlement checks, purchase sync, operational logging, usage-session finishing, and provider credential brokerage.
  • Google Play Billing: subscription purchase processing and restoration.
  • Android platform services: microphone capture, audio playback, app storage, notifications, foreground services, device security, sharing, and system functionality.
  • Email or share apps selected by you: optional diagnostics, logs, feature requests, or support messages that you choose to send.

Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Cosmos One is not responsible for third-party service availability, content, policies, pricing, retention, restrictions, or changes.

12. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy explains how Oli handles Google sign-in, microphone audio, online translation, Gemini Live Translate, local conversation history, subscriptions, diagnostics, legal consent, Cosmos One live-session services, and third-party services. You should review it before using the App.

13. Data Storage and Security

Oli stores app data locally on your Android device, including account session details, legal consent, settings, favourite languages, conversation history, diagnostic logs, and subscription state. Some subscription state may be stored with Android encrypted preferences where supported.

Online translation data is transmitted over the network to the online AI translation provider and may be processed by that provider according to its own terms and policies. If a Cosmos One live-session service is configured, the App may send account, session, entitlement, purchase, legal consent, and usage metadata to that service. The App is designed so live audio is sent to the provider connection used for translation, not stored as a normal Cosmos One account record.

You are responsible for keeping your device secure, including using device passcodes, biometric locks, operating-system updates, and appropriate backup settings. No storage or transmission method is perfectly secure, and data may be affected by device loss, reset, storage failure, operating-system behaviour, backups, screenshots, other apps, network providers, or third-party services.

14. Disclaimers

Oli is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device, available in every country, or suitable for every language, accent, environment, audio output device, or use case.

Speech recognition, live translation, translated text, and translated audio may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, interrupted, unavailable, or affected by background noise, accents, connection quality, provider limits, safety filters, provider outages, audio routing, device settings, or other factors.

The App should not be used as the sole source for legal, medical, financial, safety, emergency, immigration, or other professional decisions.

Billing, app-store services, online translation providers, live-session services, and third-party services may depend on network availability and third-party operation. Local app data may be lost if you clear app data, uninstall the App, reset your device, or experience device failure.

15. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy conferred on you by the Australian Consumer Law in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or any other applicable law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement.

Where we are permitted to limit our liability under the Australian Consumer Law, our liability is limited, at our option, to resupplying the relevant service or paying the cost of having the relevant service supplied again.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cosmos One is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, including loss of data, loss of profits, service interruption, device configuration issues, third-party service failures, online translation provider failures, reliance on AI or translation output, billing interruption, backend availability, or misuse of the App.

Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under Australian law.

17. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Cosmos One against claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses arising from your breach of these Terms, misuse of the App, unlawful content, infringement of third-party rights, unauthorised processing of another person's data, violation of third-party provider terms, or reliance on translations in a way that causes harm.

18. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using Oli at any time and may uninstall the App or clear app data from your device.

Cosmos One may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to any connected features where reasonably necessary because of misuse, breach of these Terms, legal requirement, security risk, fraud prevention, billing issue, provider restriction, service availability, entitlement issue, usage-limit enforcement, or third-party service requirement.

Local data may remain on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the App. Third-party services may retain data according to their own terms and policies.

19. Changes to the App or Service

We may change, suspend, remove, or discontinue features of Oli. Compatibility, online AI providers, language support, audio behaviour, billing behaviour, consent flows, live-session services, usage limits, pricing, and third-party services may change over time.

20. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the Last Updated date above. Significant changes may be communicated in-app or through another appropriate method.

Continued use of Oli after a Terms update means you accept the updated Terms where legally appropriate.

21. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms are subject to the courts of Australia.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or other mandatory consumer protection laws that apply to you.

22. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect to the maximum extent permitted by law.

23. Entire Agreement

These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the agreement between you and Cosmos One for your use of Oli.
